Main Goal

This is a different approach to get feedback, where evaluators focus either on sound or images specifically.

Organisation

The evaluators (this can be students themselves, giving peer feedback) need to be split in two groups.

Resources

Seperate rooms for the evaluator teams are needed.

Outcome

Feedback that is more focussed on either sound or image.

Applicability

This is a special kind of feedback.

A different way of getting feedback after showing video work.

In Rotterdam we did it this way.

First step

Split the group in 2 categories: one for audio, one for video.

Half of the group will see the video without sound.

Questions afterwards:

Watch the video without sound. What do you get from the images? What is the story about? What do you think will be heard? What can you say about the image quality?

Write down your ideas/answers. Can you summarize the story/content.

The other half will hear the sound but will see not see the images.

Questions afterwards:

Listen to the video without the image. What do you get from the sound? What kind of  images you imagine? What can you say about the sound quality?

Write down your ideas/answers. Can you summarize the story/content.

Next, collect the feedback forms and give them to the makers of the video. They can see if their message was conceived.

Next step

Show the video with sound and image!

What was the message?

How did you get this?

What was the strongest image, what the weakest?

Did the music add to the message?
